machine and the treatment so I could have my life back just the way it
was. Yeah, I was a pretty depressed.

The problem was, the feeling would just not go away because I couldn't
get over thinking that I didn't deserve this, and I didn't create this
problem...this was so unfair.

But I was left with it.

For some time I stayed in this miserable place not going forward, not
going back, and it seemed that this was just how I was supposed to
feel...

But Then A Breakthrough...

I discovered that the only way I was going to move on with my life, and
do something other than mainly being recognised as an expert at being
angry at dialysis, was to change the way I looked at life. Afterall, I
was 18 when I got sick and I could not see a lot of positives ahead for
me if I remained grid locked in this destructive outlook on life.

I Looked For What Was Really Missing In My Life

I was missing the feeling of control. The feeling of being empowered
and the master of my own destiny. I had unknowingly given that feeling
up to my dialysis treatment and medical team. I had signed it over
without a whimper, not a question - not a fight.

before I got sick? I felt sorry for my family as it must have been
